Submissions from nonprofit organizations for Briefly Speaking can be emailed to cpinto-smith@triblive.com or mailed to Briefly Speaking, 210 Wood St., Tarentum PA 15084. Include a complete address and daytime phone number. Submissions are due at least two weeks before the event. Each announcement is printed once; there is no fee.

Church news

• Greensburg Church of the Brethren will host a night of fun and fellowship for individuals and groups with developmental disabilities from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays at the church, 554 Stanton St. Dinner is included. Participants must be accompanied by a family member or caregiver. Donations will be accepted.

Fundraisers

• Lincoln Heights Civic Association will host bingo from 1 to 3 p.m. May 5 and 19 at the center, 42 Millersdale Road, Jeannette. There will be 20 regular games and five quickies. Cost: 25 cents for a three-card board and $1 for quickies. Payout is 50/50. Free coffee.

• First United Church of Christ, 400 Main St., Irwin, will host a flea market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 6 and 9 a.m. to noon May 7. A cookie sale will be May 6. May 7 there will be a $1 bag sale for shoes and clothing and all other items will be half off.

• A craft and vendor show will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 7 at the Hempfield Athletic Complex, 220 Forbes Trail Road. There will be more than 100 vendors, concessions, a basket raffle and 50/50. Entrance fee: $1. Sponsored by the township parks and recreation board, proceeds will benefit the township parks fund and recreation revitalization project.

• A plant swap will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 7 at West Newton Vine Street Park. Bring your extra plants and exchange with others. Reservations requested at greenswapwn@yahoo.com. Details: 724-872-7119.

• Penn State Master Gardeners will sponsor a plant sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 7 at the Donohoe Center, 214 Donohoe Road, Hempfield. Selections will include perennials, shrubs, grasses, vegetables, herbs and succulents. Details: 724-837-1402 or westmorelandmg@psu.edu.

• Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 44 Pennsylvania Blvd., Monessen, will host a car show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 7 at the church. Rain date: May 8. Cars, motorcycles and trucks welcome. Dash plates will be awarded to the first 100 vehicles and there will be trophies, door prizes, a basket auction, DJ, food and drinks. Entry fee: $10 per vehicle. Details: Randy Marino, 724-493-8305.

• A card party and basket raffle will be May 19 in Our Lady’s Plaza of Immaculate Conception Parish, 308 Second St., Irwin. Doors open at 6 p.m. and a light dinner will be served. Guests can bring their own cards and games. Cost: $12. Tickets: 724-863-9550.

• St. John the Evangelist Church, Latrobe, will have an indoor craft and vendor show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 7 in School Hall at the church, 306 St. John’s Drive. There will be crafters and vendors, a basket raffle, silent auction, food and a 50/50 raffle. Women age 18 and over will receive a free chance to win a surprise basket.

• First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon will host a spring tea at 4 p.m. May 7 at Rostraver Ice Garden, 111 Gallitin Road, Rostraver. There will be food, entertainment and door prizes. • First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon, 501 Fayette St., is accepting orders for a plant sale planned from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 21 at the church. Items available include annuals, perennials, geraniums, vegetables, herbs, hanging baskets, house plants, sheep manure, bird feeders and bird houses. Baked goods will be available. Order forms are available at the church or by calling 724-929-7616. Order deadline is May 10. Proceeds will benefit church outreach and mission projects.

• Excela Health will offer wellness check diagnostic screenings from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. May 14 at Excela Square at Latrobe, 100 Excela Health Drive. Sponsored by Latrobe Rotary. Meetings

• The Westmoreland County/Laurel Highlands chapter of the American Field Service high school exchange program will have its last meeting of the school year at 7 p.m. May 9 at the One Room Schoolhouse, 810 Welty St., Southwest Greensburg. Students will discuss their experiences and host families will be recognized. There will be a farewell for all exchange students who will return to their home countries in June. Local chapters of the Women’s Business Network have scheduled meetings. Those attending can learn how the group supports the success and growth of women in business. Special events

• Camp Allegheny, 100 Camp Allegheny Drive, Shade Township, will have an open house and community day from 2 to 6 p.m. May 15. There will be free food, archery, pony rides, pond boats, crafts and a memory lane. Children 18 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more.
